Education
Pelitalo's aim is to provide students the ability to work platform independently in the game and virtual experience industry, in the roles of Level Designer and Character Animator, in production houses using any of the current development platforms.
Pelitalo develops teaching methods and computer-based teaching materials that meet the needs of the industry. Development is based on student oriented, encouraging, and co-operative methods, with emphasis on the requirements of the industry.
Business orientated education and co-operation with various companies are integrated into the program. Our goal is to provide a learning experience that simulates real-life operations. Subcontracting and in-house productions are an essential part of the education.
The degree is divided into separate modules:
- Basic knowledge of Audiovisual Communication 30 credits
- Vocational studies of Game Development 60 credits
- Multimedia technology 15 credits (incl. 3D modeling, 3D texturing and lighting, 3D environment modeling and effects, game editors)
- Multimedia presentation 15 credits (incl. 3D character modeling, 3D character animation, Motion Capture, Game analysis, Game engines 1, 3D Simulations)
- Multimedia production 15 credits (incl. stages of game project production, production roles in gaming industry, Game engines 2, 3D modeling and scripting, project wide management in 3D)
- Production management 15 credits (incl. integrated use of production tools, basics of game programming, production in gaming industry)
- Common general studies 20 credits
Optional studies 10 credits
